Live in this room

Today I'm introducing a new blog series called Live in this room - where I pull together curated, 'shoppable' rooms for you featuring trade-only furnishings via our trade partner SideDoor. I'm so excited to give you access to the same to-the-trade pieces we source for client projects!

In this series, you won't find roundups of my favorite coffee tables, sconces or rugs - although fun to read, I know those lists aren't always super helpful when you're trying to pull a full room together. Instead, I will thoughtfully curate each room - selecting the perfect pieces for the entire space, ensuring each piece complements the next - from fabric to form to finish. And I'll even tell you why it works together so you can feel confident and informed about your purchases.

What is SideDoor? I'm glad you asked! It's our our furnishings partner who secures and fulfills your order, and handles all logistics and customer service. Their team is outstanding.

The two rooms I'm highlighting today are a Romantic Vintage Bedroom and a Transitional English Cottage Living Room. I am in love with the saturated neutral color palettes, the heirloom case goods and the warm mix of materials and finishes. Enjoy!

Why this room works:

  • Material mix – Gold leaf, warm woods, natural stone and pops of black combine to form a perfect medley of complementary materials

  • Stunning four-poster upholstered and gold leaf bed adds drama and serves as the room’s focal point – but isn’t heavy or obstructive

  • Oversized floor mirror (80”H x 50”W) brings dimension to a blank wall and reflects a full-length view of room (and daily outfits!)

  • Muted pink rug adds a touch of color and romance without being overly feminine

  • Marble-topped vintage-inspired dresser is crafted out of solid oak and veneers – an heirloom piece to be passed down through the generations

  • Substantially sized bedside tables (30” diameter) are hand crafted and feature traditional wood rails.

Why this room works:

  • A subtly streamlined take on the classic English roll arm, this sofa is upholstered in sustainably made Belgian Linen and features a tight fixed back, feather-blend cushions and traditional front turned legs.

  • The cocktail table is a show-stopper – its shapely spiral base in a rich ebonized finish contrasts perfectly with the travertine stone top.

  • Uniquely shaped side tables pair wire-brushed oak veneers with tinted steel in a vintage nickel finish – the perfect contrast to the darker cocktail table and dresser.

  • Charming swivel chairs are designed with a petite silhouette and feature a lightly striped blue upholstery – the perfect pop of color in an otherwise neutral space.

  • Timeless area rug pairs a vintage design with modern, livable style. Its earthy tones ground the space while blending perfectly with the moody landscape art, which is inspired by the coastal landscapes of Devon, England.

  • The traditional three-drawer mahogany dresser has classic curves and excellent craftsmanship and serves as a console table while offering much-needed storage space.

{REMINDER: Always ALWAYS double-check each product's dimensions to ensure it will fit in your space!}
